Beer #49 N’Ice Chouffe

N'ice Chouffe

Name: N’Ice Chouffe

Style: Belgium Strong Dark Ale

Brewery: Brasserie d’Achouffe website

Country: Belgium

Region:  Achouffe

ABV: 10.00%

How served: 750ml capped bottle poured into a La Chouffe  glass.

My Overall Opinion: Amazing

I paired this beer with: Watching week 14 of the NFL & the 1st round of Fantasy Football playoff week.

Tasted on: Sunday December 13, 2009.

Note:  This is a 2008 vintage.  As far as Christmas beers go, so far this is the smoothest, best blended and balances spiced as well as the most drinkable of the ones I have had so far this year.  You got to be kidding me, it is also 10%ABV, WOW!!!  10% and very drinkable = a dangerous combination.  So be careful when you drink this one.

on the label it states: Limited Edition 2008, N’ice Chouffe limited edition, brewed only once each winter by Brasserie D’Achouffe in the heart of the Ardennes forest of Belgium.  Brasserie D’Achouffe began brewing this intensely complex bottle conditioned ale in 1993.

This deep dark winter warmer is rich in taste, spicy, full of complex fruity berrylike, vinous flavors that are complimented by malt overtones.

From their website:  Description :
The N’ICE CHOUFFE is a strong dark beer that will warm you up during the winter months.  It is spiced (with thyme and curaçao) and a light hop taste, a well-balanced beer.  The N’ICE CHOUFFE is unfiltered, and re-fermented in the bottle as well as in the keg.

Packaging : 750ml bottles and 20 litre kegs

Alcohol : 10% alc./vol.

Original extract : 20 °Plato

Serving temperature : 4 to 10°C (bottle)

This is the 18th of my daily Christmas beer, on my quest for a Christmas beer a day from Thanksgiving to Christmas.  There are now only 11 more beers until Christmas!
