Name: Ølfabrikken Abbey Ale Special Reserve
Style: Dubbel
Brewery: Ølfabrikken website
Country: Denmark
Region: Rosklide
ABV: 8.5% Abv
How served: 750ml caged and corked bottle poured into a Kastaar tulip.
I paired this beer with: Grilled salmon
Tasted on: Tuesday April 6th, 2010.
Note: This was bottled on Nov 30, 2006 with a best before date of January 2012. On their website this was listed under their previous brews, so I am not sure if they will make this one again. This was a fantastic example of a Belgian Dubbel. I can easily say this is up there with some the best dubbel’s I had had before, including Westvleteren 8, St. Bernardus Prior 8 & the Westmalle Dubbel. I just might have to have a dubbel taste off to find out. I’ll let you know if the future when I do that.
(See From their Website for the translation)
Serveres ved: 8-10° C i et pokalformet glas. Upasteuriseret og unfiltreret ale eftergæret I flasken. Bør hældes forsigtigt op for at undgå bundfald I glasset.
Alc. 8,5% vol.
Opbevaret mørkt og køligt vil øllet modne og udvikle sig I de kommende år.
Mindst holdbar til januar 2012. Produktionsdato: 30/11-2006
From their website:
Ølfabrikken Abbey Ale is our interpretation of the dark and strong ales brewed in the Belgian monasteries. A more than hundred year old yeast strain provides the beer with notes of raisins and prunes supplemented by a discrete spicy aroma from coriander. The flavor is big and vinous and dominated by caramel. Enjoy it with braised meat, game and ripe cheese. Of course unpasteurized, unfiltered and refermented in the bottle.
