As always, we have arranged for private VIP tours and tastings, great local guides, daily breakfasts, some amazing dinners including a cooking class and dinner at our charming wine estate surrounded by breathtaking views of the Umbrian Countryside. There will be 6 dinners and 5 lunches, leaving you a few opportunities for you to explore the local culinary offerings on your own, as well.

This tour will be run on land, moving properties only once, so that we have time to experience both the energetic romantic riverside city of Perugia, as well as living the dream in the gorgeous scenic countryside wine estate in the heart of Umbria.

Our tour itineraries are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, transportation problems, or an unexpected business closure. We’re continually looking for ways to improve our tours and we sometimes come across a special new event, winery or sight since the itinerary was published that we’d like to share with you. Since our tours are planned far in advance, we may occasionally adjust the itinerary as necessary to provide you with the best trip possible! Since a minimum number of passengers are required in order to run each trip, we suggest you refrain from non-refundable air purchases until 2 months prior to your departure date or confirmation that the tour is a go.

  1. Day 1: Arrival at SINA Brufani in Perugia – Embarking on Your Umbrian Journey

    Arrive in Perugia and check in at the charming SINA Brufani, a historic hotel offering stunning views of the surrounding Umbrian hills. This elegant property perfectly blends modern luxury with local charm, providing the ideal starting point for your exploration of the region.

    We’ll begin with a welcome drink at the hotel, giving you the chance to meet your fellow travelers and get a preview of the amazing experiences ahead.

    Just a few blocks from the hotel, we’ll head to a local favorite restaurant, where you’ll be greeted by our friend, Chef Claudio. Known for his passion for Umbrian cuisine, Claudio creates an unforgettable dining experience featuring delicious, traditional dishes made with the freshest local ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making this the perfect introduction to the rich culinary heritage of Umbria.

  2. Day 2: Exploring Perugia – A Day of Discovery

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, taking your time to start the day at your own pace.

    We’ll then meet our friend and expert guide, Anne Claire, for a privately guided walking tour of Perugia. Anne Claire will lead you through the winding streets of this historic city, sharing its fascinating stories and hidden gems. One of the highlights is a visit to the underground sections of Perugia, a truly unique aspect of the city. You’ll explore ancient tunnels, passageways, and ruins that reveal the city’s layers of history, from its Etruscan roots to its medieval charm.

    For lunch, we’ll head to one of our favorite local spots, a traditional restaurant known for its delicious Umbrian dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. It’s a great place to experience authentic regional flavors, and they even offer a selection of local craft beers if you’re feeling adventurous.

    After lunch, you’ll have free time to explore Perugia at your leisure. Whether you choose to visit the local chocolate shops (Perugia is famous for its chocolate!), wander through artisan boutiques, or simply enjoy a quiet moment in a café, there’s plenty to see and do. If you’re in the mood to relax, you might even want to head back to the hotel, where you can unwind with a swim in the hotel’s unique pool, located in a cellar with a glass bottom that offers views of the historic ruins beneath.

    In the evening, dinner will be on your own, giving you the opportunity to explore more of Perugia’s culinary scene at your own pace.

  3. Day 3: Weaving Museum, Brewery, and Cooking Class – A Day of Hands-On Fun

    Start the day with a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, then enjoy a privately guided tour of the Museo-Laboratorio di Tessitura a Mano Giuditta Brozzetti. This exceptional museum and workshop offers a fascinating look at the centuries-old tradition of handloom weaving. Not only will you explore beautiful, intricate pieces of art, but you’ll also witness artisans at work, creating stunning textiles in the same way they’ve been made for generations.

    After the tour, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch and explore Perugia at your leisure.

    In the afternoon, we’ll check out of the hotel and head to the Fabbrica della Birra Perugia. Of course, we couldn’t leave out a brewery visit! At this local craft brewery, you’ll enjoy a private visit and tasting, learning about their unique brewing process and sampling some of their finest beers.

    Later, we’ll head to our charming and authentic Umbrian agriturismo. After checking in and settling into the peaceful countryside, you’ll roll up your sleeves for a hands-on cooking class, where you’ll prepare traditional Umbrian dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Afterward, sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labor with a delicious dinner made from the dishes you’ve just created. A perfect end to a day full of local flavor and authentic experiences!

  4. Day 4: Olive Oil, Wine Tasting, and Pottery Making – A Day of Local Craftsmanship and Flavors

    Start your day with a relaxed breakfast at the agriturismo, enjoying the peaceful surroundings at your leisure.

    We’ll then head to the Antico Frantoio Nunzi, a traditional olive oil mill, where you’ll discover the fascinating process of olive oil production. Taste some of the finest extra virgin olive oils, straight from the mill, and learn about the centuries-old techniques used to create this beloved staple of Umbrian cuisine.

    Next, we’ll visit Arnoldo Caprai Società, one of the most renowned wineries in the region. We’ll be treated to a guided tour of the vineyards and cellars, followed by a picnic lunch amidst the beautiful scenery. The perfect combination of great food, wine, and stunning views!

    In the afternoon, we’ll head to the town of Deruta, famous for its exquisite pottery. At Ceramiche E Terrecotte Gli Orci Di Pannacci Marsilio, we’ll have a unique experience learning about the traditional pottery-making process. You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at painting your own ceramic piece, immersing yourself in this centuries-old craft that defines the region.

    The day concludes with a wine tasting back home at our agriturismo, hosted by the fabulous owner, Damiano. You’ll savor local wines paired with a selection of regional products, designed to enhance the flavors of the wines. This experience offers the perfect end to a day filled with authentic local flavors, craftsmanship, and unforgettable moments.

  5. Day 5: Assisi and Pizza Party – A Day of Charm and Delicious Fun

    Start your day with a leisurely breakfast at the agriturismo, taking your time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

    We’ll then head to Assisi, where we’ll enjoy a privately guided walking tour of this charming town, famous for its historic streets and stunning architecture. Our guide will lead us through Assisi’s key landmarks, including the impressive Basilica of St. Francis, and share the fascinating history behind this iconic location.

    For lunch, we’ll gather at a delicious local restaurant in Assisi, where we’ll savor authentic Umbrian dishes made from fresh, regional ingredients. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the flavors of the area in a welcoming atmosphere.

    After lunch, you’ll have some free time to explore Assisi at your own pace. Walk off your meal as you wander through the town’s cobblestone streets, browse local shops, or simply take in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

    In the evening, we’ll return to the agriturismo for a Pizza Party. Of course, no trip to Italy is complete without indulging in authentic pizza! Whether it’s making your own or simply enjoying the flavors, this fun and casual evening is the perfect way to celebrate the day. You’ll enjoy delicious, freshly baked pizzas paired with local wine, making for a memorable and tasty end to a fantastic day.

  6. Day 6: Hidden Gems of Umbria – Vineyards, Breweries, Mosaics & the Charm of Spello

    Start your day with a leisurely breakfast at the agriturismo, enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

    We’ll then head to Montioni – Frantoio & Cantina for their signature “Wonderful Tour,” where you’ll explore their vineyards and olive groves, learning about their unique approach to both wine and olive oil production. After the tour, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch, savoring local flavors in the beautiful countryside setting.

    Surprise! We couldn’t resist adding another brewery stop to the itinerary. Next, we’ll visit Mastri Birrai Umbri, where you’ll have a private visit and tasting. While we’re in Italy’s famed wine country, we know sometimes a good craft beer is just the fix you need!

    In the afternoon, we’ll head to Spello for a guided tour of the Villa of Mosaics. This ancient Roman villa is home to some of the most stunning mosaic artwork in the region, showcasing the intricate beauty of Roman design.

    Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore the picturesque town of Spello, known for its narrow streets, colorful flowers, and charming atmosphere.

    The day concludes with dinner at a local restaurant in Spello, where you’ll enjoy authentic Umbrian dishes, wrapping up a day full of culture, craft, and local delights.

  7. Day 7: Castiglione del Lago & Isola Maggiore – A Lakeside Adventure

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the agriturismo, taking in the morning views at your own pace.

    We’ll then head to Castiglione del Lago, where we’ll embark on a privately guided walking tour of this charming lakeside town. With its cobblestone streets, medieval architecture, and stunning views over Lake Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago offers a glimpse into the timeless beauty of Umbria.

    For lunch, we’ll enjoy a meal at a delicious local restaurant, featuring incredible views of the lake and a menu full of local specialties. It’s the perfect place to experience the authentic flavors of the region.

    After lunch, we’ll take a scenic ferry ride across Lake Trasimeno to Isola Maggiore, one of the lake’s three islands. We’ll explore the island on a privately guided walking tour, where we’ll enjoy the serene atmosphere, historic sites, and panoramic views of the lake.

    After the tour, we’ll ferry back to Castiglione del Lago and head back to the agriturismo, where we’ll gather for a farewell dinner. We’ll savor a wonderful meal, reflecting on our time together and the many memories made during this unforgettable journey through Umbria.

  8. Day 8: Arrivederci Umbria – A Farewell or Onward to New Adventures

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the agriturismo, taking one last moment to soak in the serene surroundings before we begin our journey onward.

    After breakfast, we’ll check out of the agriturismo and make our way to Florence. Whether you’re heading to the Florence Airport or the main Florence Train Station, or continuing with us on the Bella Tuscany Tour, we’ll ensure a comfortable private group transfer.

    As we say “Arrivederci!” (until next time), we hope you leave with unforgettable memories of Umbria and a desire to return one day. For those continuing on, the adventure continues, with even more unforgettable experiences ahead!
